For the full resolution of 1280x800 you need to install the Intel GM driver. To install the driver open a shell and run following command: sudo apt-get install xserver-xorg-video-intel
After a reboot you should change the esolution to 1280x800
If you have trouble installing ex. Google Earth complaining about can't find suitable X-Server a quick change in xorg.conf is necessary: open xorg.conf with sudo nano /etc/X11/xorg.conf Look for an entry called i815 and change it to intel After save it and restart with ctrl+alt+backspace the X-Server
